Citations
As college students, we fully understand the importance of citing sources. We want to be able to give credits where credits are due in order to avoid plagiarism and to protect the intellectual property of others. Readers should be able to find the original sources of our information, making our research more convincing. We intend to use in-text links to public web pages because that is the easiest way for readers to access our sources. For private web pages and print resources, we will use traditional parenthetical citations. Additionally, we will include an MLA style formal documentation at the end of each blog post.
We chose MLA as our citation style because it’s succinct, clear and straightforward. Unlike other citation styles, which require readers to go back and forth to seek the original sources; in our version of MLA, the readers are able to click the in-text links and go straight to the original source when they find something interesting. This is easier and more convenient for the reader and we feel it will encourage them to do additional research on their own if they want to further explore the topic.
